THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala high court has asked what was wrong in the Women’s wall, the State government is going to organise over Sabarimala issue. “The government is not forcing anyone to take part in the wall. The government had only made a request to all government to take part in the wall,” the court observed on Friday.
The court made the above observation while considering the petition of Malayala Vedi, alleging that the government was organising the Women’s wall using public money.
“Different governments organise such programmes to make people aware of their administrative achievements. In a country where constitution exists, people have the right to take part or not take part in a programme. The government is not pressurising anyone to take part in a programme,” the court said.
However, the court asked the government whether it was forcing anyone to take part in the women’s wall and what action it would take against those didn’t take part in it.
The government’s counsel affirmed in the court that no one would be forced to attend the women’s wall. The court told the counsel to bring clarity into it statement while the case would be considered the next Thursday. Youth League leader P K Feroz had also filed a petition against Women’s wall. This is likely to be considered on Monday.
