KOLLAM: Kollam Principal Sessions Court has rejected the bail plea of actor Kollam Thulasi who made a controversial speech recently that women who break tradition in Sabarimala should be torn into two pieces.
Thulasi made this speech during the reception accorded by the BJP at Chavara during the march held by the BJP against young women’s entry in Sabarimala. The court said that the remarks in Kollam Thulasi speech incited crime against women and humiliated judges.
Chavara police had filed a case against Thulasi under IPC 295, 504 and 505. The complaint was filed by a local DYFI leader against Thulasi. As the anticipatory bail plea has been rejected, Thulasi may be arrested, produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.
Public Prosecutor representing the government had strongly opposed the bail plea.
