THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has written to the chief secretary, urging him to cancel the order for releasing government fund for building women’s wall.
“Though the government has modified the order by removing the part that asks for government fund, there are chances for utilising the government fund by some other means. Hence withdraw the order completely.
Even now the responsibility for preparing and distributing materials for the campaign of Women’s Wall is vested in Child development department. So naturally, money for it will be taken from the public exchequer. Using the government fund for any particular religious group is violation of section 27 of the Constitution. The Supreme Court has underlined this in Kesavananda Bharathi case and Shiroor Matom case,” Chennithala pointed out in his letter.
