KOZHIKODE: Minister E Chandrasekharan has said that works for rebuilding Kerala will be taken up after taking lessons from the experiences during the recent floods.

“Geological Survey of India has conducted a study of habitable and non-habitable places and submitted an initial report. Final report is yet to come out. Earlier, houses were built without making any study. Constructions done henceforth should be the ones that can survive such calamities.

In the Western Ghats region people have lost their houses in landslides and in coastal areas, many lost their homes due to floods. Many people lost their house to floods in Wayanad and Idukki.

The government has been trying to find ideal land and build houses for those who have lost their houses in floods and landslides. As many as 900 families still continue to live in relief camps provided during the floods. The government is doing them all help. Houses will be built for eligible persons among them,” he told media persons.
