THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In Nedumbassery we have CIAL, in Kannur, there is KIAL and in Thiruvananthapuam, we will soon have TIAN.
The government has issued an order for formation of a company called TIAN (Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd) to oversee the development and operation of the airport.
Chief Secretary Tom Jose is the chairman, transport secretary K R Jyothilal and Finance secretary Manoj Joshy are its members. The government’s initial share is Rs 10 lakh and Rs Five lakh is the capital.
The State has already informed the Centre to exempt the Thiruvananthapuram airport from the six airports proposed to be privatised. If the Centre calls tender, the government company will take part. Other shareholders are Kochi and Kannur airports, KSIDC, KIIFB and National Investment And Infrastructure fund.
