THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC have sacked 3861 temporary conductors on High Court judgement. This is unprecedented in the history of KSRTC. Emotions ran high when the sacked employees returned their ticketing machines to office.

RTC have also started sending appointment orders to those who received advice memo. Authorities have also measures to maintain continuity of service. Sacking of such a massive scale will reflect in KSRTC’s bus services at northern districts of the state.

Presently, there are 5,000 buses and 11,000 permanent conductors. RTC plans for effective implementation of their services.

Ernakulam district saw the highest number of dismissals-500. Permanent conductors are mostly from Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Some of them have been given temporary posting at northern districts. Permanent employees are asked to do overtime duty. Compensation for overtime duty has been raised. Rs. 480 was the overtime reward for temporary employees. However, permanent employees never showed interest in extra duty.

From now on conductors will be allowed leave from chief office directly. RTC have started posting mechanical employees with conductor license in buses. Drivers with conductor license will also be employed as conductors. “Management is doing everything they can to make sure that the passengers doesn’t face any difficulties”, said Tomin Thachankary, KSRTC MD.

Sacking of M-Panel employees resulted in the suspension of 820 services throughout Kerala including Pamp-Nilakkal service. A total of 89 M-Panel employees were sacked in Pampa-Nilakkal route.
