KOTTAYAM: Though the charge sheet against former Jalandhar bishop Fr Franco Mulakkal in the nun rape case is ready, the court is not able to start the trial as the government is yet to appoint a special prosecutor to conduct the case.

In the 140-page charge sheet, it is said that Franco had used his spiritual authority to sexually abuse the nun.

The trial will be held at Kottayam Sessions Court.

The names of renowned lawyers Jithesh Babu Payaz and Mohanraj were suggested two months ago but the application is still in front of directorate of prosecution.

There are 200 evidence and more than 50 witness accounts against Franco.

Nuns and those who renounced nunhood had revealed Franco’s sexual perversions. It is said that bishop had tried to influence and threaten the nun at different stages of the investigation.
