CHALAKKUDY: Koratti Panchayat president Kumari Balan has submitted her resignation as a no-confidence motion brought by UDF got passed with support from BJP independent. It ewas earlier hinted that BJP will support the no-confidence motion. Meantime, the no-confidence motion brought against vice-president Jaini Joshi will be considered on Thursday afternoon.
There are 19 members in total in Koratti panchayat. 9 for LDF and 9 for UDF. BJP backed-independent Bindu Sathyapalan had stayed away from electing the panchayat president. Therefore, the president was chosen using a draw.
