Buddhadeb Dasgupta is a director that needs no introduction. He is one of the finest directors to come from Bengali movie industry. He has won several honours including five National awards for best film, two National awards for best director and three National awards for best Bengali film. His films were awarded in film festivals Locarno and Karlovy Vary. Undoubtedly, Buddhadeb Dasgupta is a representative from the group of greats like Satyajit Rai, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen.

Kerala is a place close to heart for Buddhadeb. A house of his own in Kerala and a movie directed at his friend Aravindan’s native place have always been a dream of Deb. One of them will soon become a reality. Deb will soon direct a movie with Kerala as backdrop. Prominent film producer and politician, Aryadan Showkath will be the producer of this project.

Earlier in an interview to Keralakaumudi Deb said that they had this project in mind a long time back but it was delayed due to some reasons.

“I wrote a script with Kerala in mind. Producer was a good man. He gave me an advance payment. But I don’t know what happened later. Aryadan Showkath was the producer. We joined hands three times after that. I don’t know why he pulled out from the project. I don’t know whether he actually withdrew. I don’t have enough money to produce a movie in Malayalam. If I had, I would have done that. Filming a movie in my dear friend Aravindan’s native place has been a dream for me”, Deb said.

Aryadan Showkath approached Buddhadeb the very next day of this interview and expressed interest in producing the movie.
