SABARIMALA: Two women devotees were blocked at Marakkoottam in Sabarimala after the ‘Manithi’ group members were blocked by protesters on Sunday. The protesters have intensified their protest on the Chandranandan road. The police had removed protesters form Marakkoottam and continued the women devotees’ journey. However, the protests were intensified following this. The women devotees have been identified as Bindu, native of Koyilandi and Kanaka Durga, native of Malappuram. They continued their journey under police protection.

Rapid action force was deployed at Sabarimala following this. Though, a huge outburst had occurred at Sabarimala, police team led by SP was initially able to remove the protesters. The protesters had a clash with police. The action was taken by DIG Sethuraman.

Meantime, the women have clarified that they will not return without performing ‘darshan’ at Sabarimala. Bindu said that they will trek to the temple even if they have to face a huge protest. “It is responsibility of the police to give us protection. We had not sought police protection. Those who are staging protests are violating the law”, said Bindu.

Bindu and Kanaka Durga reached Pampa at 3:30 am. They reached Pampa without informing police. Protesters chanted ‘saranam’ and reached Appachimedu and blocked the women.
