MALAPPURAM: One and half year old toddler died on her mother's lap in a train as she did not receive proper treatment immediately during a train journey. Mariam, daughter of Shameer and Sumayya in KC House in Irikkoor, Kannur was a heart patient and she passed away on Wednesday night. Though her mother asked her to shift them to a coach and have proper treatment, they were thrown out of the train by the ticket collectors as they did not have a ticket.
The incident happened at Kuttippuram in Malappuram. Mariam had undergone a heart surgery in Thiruvananthapuram Sree Chithra hospital at 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
She was admitted to a private hospital in Malappuram as she was suffering from fever and experts asked her parents to shift the baby to Thiruvananthapuram. They only received a general ticket from railway station, but she decided to enter the sleeper coach . However, ticket collectors threw her out of the train with her beby as she did not have a sleeper ticket.
Later, Sumayya entered the ladies coach and Basheer entered the general coach. However, the baby's condition got worsened and Sumayya's co-passengers pulled the chain when the train reached Thiruvananthapuram station. Railway police shifted the baby to a nearby hospital. Hoever, she paassed away before reaching the hospital.
