THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IUML Kerala President Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal has asked for an explanation from P.K. Kunjalikutty M.P. regarding his absence in triple talaq bill voting. Even though IUML consider the absence as a serious incident, no leaders came up with a public response. Bearing in mind the emotions of party activists and leaders, IUML decided to seek explanation from Kunjalikutty.

Many inside IUML thinks that it’s inappropriate for Panakkad Thangal to seek explanation from Kunjalikutty as the latter is a National General Secretary of the party. However, as per a party source, Hyderali Thangal will be seeking explanation as the Chairman of political advisory committee, not as Kerala state President of IUML.

Meanwhile, M.K. Munner MLA has come in support of P.K. Kunjalikutty by stating there is no problem with his absence. “There was enough representation from IUML for discussions regarding triple talaq bill. Party had decided to boycott triple talaq bill”, Muneer said. Muneer refrained from answering more questions regarding Kunjalikutty.
