KOCHI: The police have registered a case against 1400 persons for attending Ayyappa Jyothi. BJP state general secretary A N Radhakrishnan, district secretaries M A Brahmaraj, M N Gopi are among them. The case has been registered for disrupting transportation and for assembling illegally.
The Ayyappa Jyothi was lit on December 26 from Kasargod to the capital city vowing to protect the rituals and traditions of Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala. The event was organised by Sabarimala Karma Samithi, a joint platform of right wing outfits and the BJP, opposing entry of women in 10-50 age group into the temple. The case has been registered in Angamaly, Moovattupuzha, Perumbavoor and Kuruppampady.
Police said a case will be registered against former PSC chairman Dr K S Radhakrishnan and former DGP M G Raman, who participated in the Ayyappa Jyothi at Angamaly after a detailed probe.
