THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that Sangh Parivar had tried to destroy Kerala under the cover of Sabarimala verdict and an organisation with Renaissance value also sided with them.
Without naming the organisation the chief minister criticised NSS in a press conference convened on Monday morning to explain the “significance” of Women’s Wall from the government’s point of view.
Pinarayi recalled the names of great personalities like Mannathu Padmanabhan who contributed to efface several ill practices in society.
However, the chief minister affirmed that Sabarimala order was the impetus for Women’s wall. “An attempt was made to destroy the communal harmony of the State by taking women to the streets in the name of Sabarimala order.
It was after this, a decision was taken to call a meeting of Hindu organisations with Renaissance values. Women’s wall is part of gender strike of the government for resolving their problems. Chances are for the formation of Women’s wall on its own,” he said.
Criticising the people for taking part in Ayyappa Jyothi, the chief minister said all women had the right to take part in Women’s wall and nobody can deter them. At the same time, no action would be taken against those who don’t take part in the wall.
When asked about the government’s stand on Women’s entry, Pinarayi said women who returned without climbing Sabarimala did that according to their own decision. “If they had been ready to climb facing any eventuality, the government would have provided police protection. But, police could only act on a restrained manner since any strong police action would have widespread undesired effects.
News on flood relief measures fake
The chief minister rebutted the news in a prominent newspaper that rebuilding of Kerala post flood is at snails’ pace
“The news is baseless and prepared without collecting right information from the government. 13311 houses in the State were completely destroyed.
Out of that the owners of 8881 houses have said that they will rebuild their houses on their own.
The first instalment for the rest will be issued before January 30. The immediate relief of Rs 10,000 has been distributed to 6,87,000 people within 90 days after the floods,” he explained.
