THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran has come forward with with explanation regarding his statements over women entry at Sabarimala. “The discusseion was regarding the limited security for women at Sabarimala. The government is obliged to implement the Supreme Court verdict”, said Kadakampally Surendran following controversial remarks from CPM state secretary and the chief minister.

Minister informed that he has given an explanation was given to the party regarding this and that the party will look into the matter. However devaswom board president A Padmakumar said that there is nothing wrong with the chief minister’s statement.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had said that it is the Supreme Court that allowed women along with men the right to worship in Sabarimala.

“No one has the right to say that women should not go to Sabarimala,” he said when asked about the statement of Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran and Devaswom board president A Padmakumar that women should not enter Sabarimala until Mandalakalam season was over.

“No one has the right to say that women should not enter Sabarimala. Ministers should have a stand same as that of the government. Many customs have changed in Sabarimala.

Devaswom board was formed in 1949. Formerly, Sabarimala opened only during Mandala Makavilakku. Later it was decided to open the temple during Onam and beginning of every Malayalam month.
