THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some people should check whether there is any way against communalism other than secularism, says Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. “People should understand there is double standard in stands such as equal distance”, Pinarayi Vijayan said at press meet today. This is clearly an indirect jibe at NSS.
“A renaissance organization cannot work against renaissance unless they declare that they need not protect values of renaissance. So I expect good participation from the Nair community in the Women Wall”, CM said.
“Those who are opposing Supreme Court verdict should understand that they are also opposing constitutional values, secularism and fundamental rights. Our nation has abolished several rituals and rites before. Renaissance leaders have led protests against rites that were against humanity. People like Mannath Padmanabhan played a key role in such movements. Several rituals that troubled the lives of Nair people were abolished later”, Pinarayi said.
“Under Devaswom Board, Sabarimala also witnessed changes. The shrine was opened only during Mandala Makaravilakku season 1949. Later, the shrine was opened in the first five days of every Malayalam month and during Onam. There is no difference in opinion with these changes. Coconuts were broken at the holy steps before. Irumudikkettu was prepared at houses and temples before. All of these changed. Even some wear saffron attire instead of black. There are also many other changes in rituals. Nobody protested back then” he said.
“Some 400 years tradition at Saturn temple in Maharashtra was changed after a High Court verdict. Police made way for women entry by lynching the protestors. Women entry was realized at Haji Ali Durgah as well. BJP and Congress are the major parties in Maharashtra. Another evil ritual at Udupi Sri Krishna Temple was stopped recently. It should be noted that government there is under Congress leadership”, opined CM Pinarayi.
The proposed Women Wall is for women empowerment. Everything hints towards Women Wall becoming a massive wall.
