THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has brushed off statements of Devaswom Board President Padmakumar and Minister Kadakamapally Surendran. “Party don’t share the opinion that women shouldn’t come to Sabarimala. Minister and Board President shouldn’t express such opinions at this juncture”, Kodiyeri said. He was talking in ‘Meet the Press’ program at Thiruvananthapuram Press Club.

“After watching the news, I contacted Devaswom Board Minister and enquired on the same. He said that the report was misinterpreted. We will ask for a detailed explanation from the minister regarding this. The government won’t use arms for ensuring women entry at Sabarimala”, he said.

Talking on NSS, Kodiyeri said, “NSS is an organization that have worked towards upholding renaissance values. But in some situations their stand wasn’t right. They should change their current stand”.

“Once the Congress had the tradition of upholding Renaissance value. They have lost that tradition and have ended up as a B team of the RSS. This is a big change that has happened to the Congress,” Kodiyeri said.

“In some regions, men will form a wall opposite to the wall formed by women. We won’t force anyone to join Women Wall. This is not a government campaign. The government gives support for this cause. So, some government systems have been part of the wall’s campaign. Women Wall does not need government funds. Statements made by V.S. Achuthanandan against the NSS was misinterpreted by the media”, Kodiyeri told the press.
