SIVAGIRI: Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajesekharan has said what is essential for the progress of society is the forward movement that hinges on Sree Narayana Guru’s visions.
“If one has to know what Kerala’s renaissance is, he should know Sree Narayana Guru,” he said on Tuesday.
Kummanam was inaugurating the concluding ceremony of Sivagiri pilgrimage
“Guru developed power with bhakti (devotion). He realised that what society needs is unity and he beaded together people’s heart.
He held together people even when differences and animosity existed in society. Thus he was able to build trust.
Now what we need is not new Kerala but Kerala of beliefs.”
Kummanam said that what is actually happening in Sivagiri pilgrimage is experience of Guru’s vision. He was not a mere thinker. Thinkers usually think about others. “Through visions, the heart develops. Guru held on to beliefs to avoid the narrowing down of society’s heart. He founded temples and installed idols and specified special customs and rituals. He upheld the undying thoughts of spirituality. Sivagiri pilgrimage gives insight and when it explodes inside, narrow thoughts will perish,” he said.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala presided the function.
