THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hindu Aikyavedi State president K P Sasikala has said it is time for second liberation movement in Kerala in the wake of entry of women of menstruating age in Sabarimala on Wednesday.

“Henceforth, there is no need for any compromise and get ready for second liberation struggle. Now, we shall decide the future of the government. I understand the anxiety of Hindus but they need not worry,” she said on her Facebook page.

Meanwhile, there was state wide protests against the LDF government for having facilitated the entry of two women in Sabarimala temple, though through the ‘back door’.

In Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram, BJP workers came on to streets forcing people to close shops and burning CPM flex boards. In front of the Secretariat CPM and BJP men clashed.

Police had to resort to lathi charge and firing of water cannons and tear gas shells to disperse mobs of attackers from both parties. Several organisations with the support of the BJP have called for protests and hartal on Thursday.
