THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread protests in the hartal called by Sabarimala Karma Samithi have led to the arrests of 226 aggressors, says DGP Loknath Behera. 334 people are kept in reservation confinement. Special task forces have been formed under district police chiefs to arrest aggressors across the state. This operation has been named ‘Operation Broken Window’.

Special branches of the state police will take action to find and arrest violators who escapes to other districts and state after engaging in violent protests. A list containing the names of attackers will be created by the special branches, which will be later handed over to district police chiefs. Phones of suspicious people will be frisked by police officials. Raids will be conducted at the houses of aggressors to find weapons. A database with name of culprits will be created and the offenders will be subjected to strict observation. A digital team will be formed by district police chiefs in order to create a photo album of violators. Officers will make use of this album for any possible arrests.

Cases will be registered against those who propagate communal and hate campaigns on social media. Those who spread such posts on social media will be arrested, says DGP Loknath Behera.
