THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Violence is still continuing in the state in connection with the entry of women in Sabarimala. A BJP office at Puthiya Theruvu in Kannur was set on fire early Friday morning. An activist identified as Suresh of Mooppanpara, who was in the office sustained burn injuries. He suffered 40% burns and has been admitted at the intensive care unit of Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Suresh told police that two persons in a bike set the office on fire. Police has started a probe by a team led by Valapattanam circle inspector Krishnan.

Nearly hundred cases have been registered at various police stations in Kannur in connection with the attacks witnessed recently. There are a total of 140 accused. More cases were registered in Kannur, Thalassery, Valapattanam, Payyanur and Thaliparambu stations. The police have arrested 52 persons indulged in various cases coming under the Kannur police sub division. 23 persons have been remanded. Six have been arrested at Thaliparambu and Kudiyanmala stations coming under the Thaliparambu police division. No major violence has been reported since last night. Ten cases have been registered by Thalassery police. Raids have been intensified in sensitive areas to nab the accused.

Attacks are continuing in Kasargod. A large contingent of police has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incidents. Three RSS activists identified as Guru Prasad (23), his friend Kiran Kumar (27) and Vasanthan (40) were stabbed last night at Vorkadi. A six-member team who came in three bikes stabbed the three. The injured has been admitted a private hospital in Mangaluru. They were stabbed when they tried to prevent the team from attacking one Charan Raj.

The house of Shyam Babu, a Manorama reporter at Kanhangad was attacked. Some party offices including CPM branch office at Pallikkara were also vandalised. District collector has imposed prohibitory orders at Manjeswaram taluk as per CRPC 144 to thwart the spread of tension. Many have been taken into custody in connection with the violent incidents.
