SABARIMALA: Now it is more or less confirmed that 47 year old Sri Lankan woman managed to climb the 18 holy steps and enter the Sabarimala temple. The lady named Sasilala arrived at 10:45 pm on Thursday and reportedly had darshan.
Though the police denied this reports Thursday night and Friday morning, the government announced it officially based on the CCTV visuals. Later the police also confirmed this. With this, the total number of women who entered Sabarimala has become three. She is said to have entered the temple a few minutes before Harivarasanam was heard. As there was heavy rush at Sannidhanam, nobody identified her.
Sasikala along with her husband Sharavana Maran and son along with Guru Swami reached Pamba on Thursday morning. Though she sought police protection, the police tried to convince her of the risk involved in darshan. But as Sasi Kala told them her uterus has been surgically removed and she had come after observing 41-days’ vratham, the police relented.
She also submitted the medical certificate to testify her statements.
Later Sasi Kala and Guruswami had darshan with the escort of policemen in mufti dress. As their visit became controversial, Sharavanamaram said at Sannidhanam that her wife had not made darshan. Later on Friday morning, Sasikala told the media at Pamba that she was returning as the police prevented her entry. But now, all these are seen as a well-scripted operation of the police to avoid clashes.
Some dramatic scenes were witnessed in Sabarimala Friday night after a 47-year-old Sri Lankan woman tried to enter the holy shrine. Police explanation initially was that Sasikala was sent back from Marakootam following protests. However, she told reporters that there were no protests from devotees but the police forcefully sent her back.
She said, “I am an Ayyappa devotee. I observed all the vratham and my uterus was removed via surgery. I just came for Ayyappa darshan and I couldn’t complete it. There were no protests. Still, the police asked me to go back. My husband and son completed the darshan. Ayyappa will decide about my darshan. I informed everything at the Pampa Station. I climbed Sabarimala after the police asked me to.” Sasikala said.
