THIRUANANHAPURAM: Confirming the report that around ten women have entered Sabarimala since the pronouncement of Supreme Court order, Devaswom Board Minister Kadakampally Surendran has said that as per the court order the government was constitutionally obliged to allow entry of women in Sabarimala temple without verifying their age.

“As a result several women have already entered Sabarimala. What people come to know is only which comes to the notice of media persons. There is no point in RSS making hue and cry over it. Women, irrespective of their age can go to Sabarimala.

Even believers among activists can go to Sabarimala. There is SC order that allows women of all ages to have darshan in Sabarimala. The women who reached Sabarimala recently had no other intentions. Real devotees have no issue if women enter and it is the RSS that is unleashing violence,” he said.

Meanwhile, police reported that post the SC order, about 10 women between the ages of 40 and 50 entered Sabarimala. This included women from Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The government had asked the police to submit the report in this regard to the Supreme Court.

“Apart from Sri Lankan woman three women from Malaysia also climbed Sabarimala with the help of police and had darshan. They were women from 25-member Mayalsan team. They were Malayalis and Tamilians who had settled in Sabarimala. When protesters argued with them, they lied that they were above 50 years of age,” police explained but did not reveal the details of other three women.
