PATHANAMTHITTA: The existing Prohibitory orders in Sabarimala has been extended till January 14, the day of ‘makaravilakku’. This was informed by Pathanamthitta collector P B Nooh.

The action was taken following the report submitted by district police superintend, stating that there were scuffles and protests during Thulam month puja, Chithira Attavilakku and Mandalam season.

Nooh said that Section 144 was being extended under these circumstances.

Executive magistrates also backed the report. The section 144 will exist on all the roads and sub-roads between Elavunkal and Sannidhanam. However, devotees are being allowed to visit the temple and chant ‘saranam’. More policemen will be deployed at Pulimedu on account of these clashes. This decision was taken following the report that there is a probability for a protest here.
