THRISSUR: Two women members of Thalappilly taluk union in Thrissur had resigned their respective posts soon after they attended the women wall organised by the state government. They attended the wall ignoring the directive of the NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair asking them to stay away from it. Wadakkancherry municipality permanent panel chief and councillor are the two who resigned their respective posts.

T N Lalitha, who had served long as women union president and member Praseeda Sukumaran are the two women members. The two were very active in the organisation and had attended namajapa parades etc as per the directive of the NSS.

None of the women members had attended the wall. The presence of the two in the wall had blemished the image of the state leadership. While delivering a speech at the public meet organised in Athani as part of the wall, Lalitha had criticised NSS’ stand. This had led to an outburst in the organisation. Following the incident, the union decided to seek an explanation from them. The two resigned from the union after giving an explanation.
