KOLLAM: The police is waiting for a legal advice without filing an FIR even after a probe has been completed in the case in connection with the death of Tamil Nadu native Murugan. Police had registered cases against five doctors on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. However they moved the high court seeking prevention of their arrest.
Though there is proof for denial of treatment for Murugan, it has not been mentioned anywhere including in the post-mortem report and then how the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder will prevail against the doctors, asked the high court and this urged the police to seek legal advice. The high court had blocked the arrest of two doctors of a private medical college in Kollam and three doctors of Thiruvananthapuram medical college. In this situation, the police is seeking legal advice to impose a smaller charge on them for denial of treatment. The case file has been handed over to the office of government advocate.
The victim, Murugan (46) from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, was riding pillion on a bike when it collided with another two-wheeler at Kottiyam in Kollam. The police rushed the injured to nearby KIMS Hospital, where Murugan was diagnosed with brain haemorrhage.
