SNDP Yogam general secretary has said reservation for economically back upper class is anti-constitutional. “Giving 10 pc reservation to economically backward people from upper class by amending the constitution is not fair. I can’t agree with that. I shall react further after studying the decision of the Centre in detail,” he said.

Meanwhile, NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair welcomed the Centre’s decision. “Though there are more hurdles before the amendment, it shows the Central government’s sense of justice, social justice and will power. The Nair Service Society has been demanding this for the past 50 years,” he said.
