THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Political parties have begun their camapign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. LDF believes that they are able to ensure backward-dalit votes following their stand on the Sabarimala issue and their move to uphold renaissance values. They are trying to keep minority close and also trying not to destroy the vote bank that they already have. BJP and UDF believe that NSS votes will be helpful for them in central travancore. UDF also hopes to get the votes of religious minority. BJP hopes to get the support of NSS following the 10% quota bill introduced by the government.
CPM has initiated organizational level party activites and they have decided to conduct a programme for state committee, district secretariat and assembly secretaries at AKG centre in Thiruvananthapuram. They have completed family meets in 14 districts.
Congress has also started booth level works.
All India National Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi will visit Kerala to kick off the election campaign of the party. It has been reported that he would arrive Kerala on January 29.
KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran stated that Rahul Gandhi will attend the state meeting of Congress booth presidents and women vice presidents in Kochi on January 24. He added that the party was able to appoint women vice-presidents in all 23,970 booths.

He also said that the party had planned to complete KPCC reorganisation in January prior to the Lok Sabha elections. It is reported that District Congress Committee presidents will not be replaced.
