BEKKAL: The Bekkal police arrested a CPM activist for attacking journalists in a clash that broke out at Chettukundil during the formation of the women wall. The arrested has been identified as Sukumaran (55). M B Sharat Chandran, cameraman T R Shaan, Shahad Rehman and Renju were attacked while filming the clash. Their cameras and vehicle were damaged. The accused produced before Hosdurg First Class Magistrate Court has been remanded.

The CPM district leadership had held BJP responsible for the attack. He was arrested after the police examined the clippings and the media persons too had identified the accused.
