THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Those arrested in connection with the attack towards State Bank of India near the Secretariat on the second day of the national strike yesterday, has been remanded. Harilal, office attendant of Technical Education Department and also a member of NGO union district secretariat and Ashokan, assistant accountant of treasury directorate and area secretary are the two remanded. The two surrendered before the cantonment police station Thursday morning.

Nine persons including E Suresh Babu, NGO union state panel member and inspector of establishment section, GST commissionerate and Suresh, union district committee member and deputy commissionerate office clerk have been identified. There are still 13 more to be nabbed in the case.

A team of fifteen people barged into the bank yesterday morning at 10.15 am. They reached manager Santhosh Karunakaran’s room and sought the closure of the bank. They damaged some computers and a glass top. A loss of Rs 35,000 has been estimated.

The protestors abused and manhandled the manager when he tried to stop the attack. The case was registered on the complaint of the manager at the cantonment station. The police team led by DCP collected the details from the bank and also examined the CCTV clippings. Only four from 52 bank employees joined the strike.
