THIRUANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured Governor P Sathasivam of strong action against persons who unleashed violence following women’s entry in Sabarimala temple. The action will be taken against attackers, irrespective of their political affiliations.
The chief minister reached Raj Bhavan on Thursday 7pm and gave this assurance to the governor. The meeting spanned for about half an hour. The governor later tweeted that the chief minister had explained to him about the steps taken to maintain law and order and supress violence.
The chief minister had also explained the character of violence unleashed. On January 3, the governor had sought a report from the government on the law and order situation of the State.
The governor also gave primary explanation to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on January 4. On the basis of the chief minister’s report, the governor will submit a detailed report to the Centre.
The governor is also reported to have discussed the progress on the rehabilitation of flood-affected people and other important incidents in the State. The chief minister sent to the Rajbhavan a signed report comprising visuals of attacks and pictures of attackers and their political affiliations.
The chief minister had explained that what is in the state is not administrative crisis and deliberate attempt to create arson. In the total cases registered, 92 percent of the accused are persons with BJP-RSS connections.
