THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP is trying hard to grab the Thiruvananthapuram seat at any cost in the Lok Sabha polls. The party is aiming to ensure their first victory in the capital city by fielding a strong contestant like party general secretary K Surendran. They firmly believe that they will attain the full support of NSS if Surendran is in the fray.

Most probably Shashi Tharoor from the Congress will contest in the capital city. There is no clear information so far on who will be fielded from the CPI. If Surendran is fielded in the capital city, it would be a tight contest between the two key contenders-- the BJP and the Congress. The BJP has got some confidence after the Nair Service Society (NSS) has sent a letter hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the historic 10% quota bill. The party is all set for a tight contest by fielding Surendran in the capital city. A noted leader of the NSS has hinted support if Surendran is fielded. It has been hinted that BJP leadership is fielding Surendran after his popularity increased following Sabarimala strike. Many other names are also heard along with Surendran. Talks on it are expected to begin soon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaching the capital city tomorrow has given them more confidence. He is reaching to inaugurate various pilgrim and tourist facilities at the temple completed under the Swadeshi Darshan project. After the survey of India TV CNX in December predicted of BJP getting one seat in Kerala, the party think that Thiruvananthapuram is the most apt seat for Surendran.

The arrest of Surendran on Sabarimala issue and transferring him to many jails would be raised actively during election campaign. They feel that they can win easily if they get the support of the NSS.
