KOCHI: Kerala high court has rejected the petition of BJP leader K Surendran, seeking permission for Sabarimala darshan during Makaravilakku season.
Meanwhile, the court said that Surendran could approach Pathanamthitta Magistrate court.
Surendran gave the above petition after he got bail and came out of jail, where he had spent almost a month for allegedly indulging in violence in Sabarimala in connection with women’s entry.
The prosecution had pleaded to the court not to give him permission to visit Sabarimala during the current season. Surendran was arrested, in connection with a case related to attack on a 52-year-old woman at Sannidhanam. Surendran was charged for conspiring to attack the woman, which he had denied outright.
Later, he got bail with some strong conditions. One of the conditions was that he should not enter Pathanamthitta district without the permission of the court. Earlier, also he had approached the high court seeking concessions. The high court denied the petition based on the government report it had got from the government in this regard.
