SANNIDHANAM: Devotees from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu stopped the women of menstruating age who tried to trek to Sabarimala early Wednesday morning. Only a handful of Keralites were there to protest their entry. Five from Andhra Pradesh identified the women and stopped their entry. The police removed the protestors and moved forward with the women. However, at Neelimala they were intercepted by angry devotees including children. The protestors lighted camphor chanting ayyappa mantras and stopped the team including women. The police were not able to go further with the women when an 80-member team from Coimbatore joined the protestors. The police withdrew with the women following concern of life threat to devotees from other states if former incidents recur again. Reshma Nishanth and Shanila Sajesh, residents of Kannur came with Shreyas Kanaran, Subramanyan, Suban, Mithun and Sajesh, members of a Facebook group named ‘Navodhana Keralam Sabarimalayilekku’.
