KOCHI: The LDF hopes for a sabotage in the UDF’s Ernakulam fortress during the imminent Lok Sabha election. There are hints that the LDF will chose a befitting independent candidate to confront Thomas.

There is a strong sentiment in the LDF that the seat won by K V Thomas hands down for five times should have a strong candidate from their side. The BJP also eyes for the seat in Kerala’s economic capital.

Despite opposition in the party, K V Thomas is likely to contest from Ernakulam again as there are hints that all sitting MPs except Mullapally Ramachandran will be in the fray. In the UDF, there is also clamour for inclusion of youth leaders.

In Ernakulam the Left might try actress Rima Kallingal, director Ashiq Abu and actor Sreenivasan. CITU leader and former MP K Chandran Pillai is another probable.

Meanwhile, the BJP may experiment with fresh faces in Ernakulam. They may also give the seat to their allies. In that case former MP PC Thomas stands a chance.
