Shanavas, son of Malayalam Cinema legend Prem Nazir, has come up with a shocking revelation against the late K. Karunakaran-former Chief Minister and one of the greatest leaders of the Congress in the state. Prem Nazir had to do campaigning for Congress due to some outside pressure and threats, says Shanavas. He was talking in Kaumudy TV’s interview show Straight Line. According to Shanavas, it was the interest of former Prime Minister that made Karunakaran pressurize the actor to campaign for Congress.
“Even if we were in his shoes, we would have done that. There was no other way. Indira Gandhi herself contacted and forced him to contest in elections. At the time, another gang was also trying to pursue him. They even promised to arrange finances. But my father answered them diplomatically”, Shanavas said.
“They tried to trap us through an income tax raid. In his decades long acting career, we never saw one such instance of raid. It was done purposely at that time. But he didn’t fall to this. He repeatedly said no to candidature offers. He said that he cannot contest but can work for them”, Shanavas added.
