KANNUR: Police have intensified their investigations on being tipped that more people from Kannur are being transported to join ISIS.
The police had received a voice message the other day that a Kannur native who had run away from home to join ISIS was found dead.

Kannur DySP P P Sadanandan said that the incident had prompted police to intensify its probe into missing cases of youths, who are suspected to have gone abroad to join ISIS.

Police believe that certain organisations based in Kannur are behind trafficking youths to join ISIS but they are waiting for sufficient evidence to nail them down.

Police are currently trying to collect the source of the money they receive as funds. Moreover certain businessmen are also said to have connections with these institutions and the individuals being trafficked to overseas.

It was only recently that the financial help given by a business man to youths who got arrested in a terror case to help them conduct their case became controversial.

Certain people related to this business man were arrested and jailed in a foreign country. Police had received the information that on November 20, about ten persons from Kannur went to join ISIS.

Anwar, wife Afseela, three children, Puthupara native K Sajad, wife Shahina, two children and T P Nizam of City Kuruva.They left home, saying that they are going to Mysore. As they didn’t return, police started the search only to find that they had gone to join ISIS.
The news of killing came out only after Anwar’s wife Afseela chat message in social media was leaked.

Afseela is the sister of Fousia, the wife of Shameer who went from Kannur Pappinisseri, joined ISIS and got killed.

Earlier, Turkey police had caught 35 persons including 13 children who had gone from Kannur to join ISIS.
