KOTTAYAM: Ajesh, who murdered a young girl in Kottayam had resided in his residence even after committing the murder. Migrant labourers and their families, who were residing near Ajesh’s residence came to know of the incident only when the police came to arrest him on Friday.

Migrant labourers have given statement that the girl had come to visit Ajesh on Thursday. There are 30 migrant labourers living with their families near Ajesh’s room. Since there is a brick factory nearby, nobody can hear any sound from the room. Ajesh was a drunkard and a public nuisance.

Hundreds of natives crowded to see the dead body and badmouthed the accused while he was being arrested by the police.

The dead body is 100 metres away from the place of murder. The police have been investigating whether Ajesh had received anyone’s help to bury the body. The investigation is led by DySP R Sreekumar, CI A J Thomas, U Sreejith, T R Jiju, Manarkad SI G Vinod and Ayarkkunnam SI Anoop Jose.

Ajesh was a usual visitor at the victim’s house. He became close with the girl and had called each other often. Ajesh was already married to a native of Marakad. He has two children from his first marriage. He remarried after divorcing his first wife and separated with her six months ago.

He is also accused of attackinh his first wife. His first wife had complained that he was constantly attacking her and forcing her for unnatural sex. Police had warned him in that case.
