THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala state police has come forward with a warning to those who are using free WiFi in public space. Hackers may try to obtain the secret information of those who use such WiFi connection. Police has not ruled out the possibility that the free WiFi might be a strategy of hackers to obtain the information. Those who provide such connections might be able to hack into users’ networks. Police also say that the hackers might be able to obtain the information of user’s mobile and computer. E-mail, credit and debit card details can also be hacked. Some people are giving the phone numbers, which are connected to these Wi-Fi networks to several marketing companies so that they can use the numbers for promotion of their products. However, several companies are coming forward with new software to tackle the issue.
