THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a lightning search operation in the name ‘Operation Thunder’, vigilance found irregularities of massive scale in 53 police stations in the state. Unaccounted jewelry and money were found. Several vehicles were found to be kept unreasonably.
Deficit of Rs, 80,000 and Rs 57,740 were noted in Karunagappally station in Kollam and Kozhikkode Payyoli station respectively.
Search operation was carried out based on intelligence reports that there are irregularities in some cases and police have relations with quarry mafia.
Several petitions were found without proper registration. In some stations, not even a single case was registered in relation to quarry mafias post 2012.
Major irregularities and unregistered police complaints were found in Kasaragod Bekal station, Kozhikkode town station, Wayanad Meppadi, Pulppally station, Mavelikkara station and Alappuzha station.
Vigilance plans to pass over detailed report to government.
