KOLLAM: Sabarimala issue would result in total dissolution of the UDF, while the LDF would walk out of the situation unharmed, says SNDP Yogam president Vellappally Natesan. ‘‘The BJP will gain from it, they will get a lot of UDF votes,’’ said Natesan.

“Some small timers have got together with election in mind. BJP will retain their rule by small majority. There is no point in looking down on Modi’s importance. Most of NSS members support BJP. Even when talking on equal warmth, they have clear politics in mind,” Natesan opined.

Natesan also said the Yogam will not support any front in the upcoming elections.

‘‘Members of the Yogam can cast their votes the way they want. The Yogam has no association with any party," Natesan said.

He said that an upper caste lobby was in control of the Sabrimala protests. ‘‘All the decisions were taken by certain persons who consider themselves lords. Treating a section of society as untouchables and then inviting them for namajapam is not acceptable. We are not willing to cooperate with such people. If you want to be a priest at Sabarimala, you should be a Brahmin. If you accept this it will pave way for casteism,’’ he added.
