THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance has directed the police to take action against certain policemen after certain irregularities were spotted during the lightning raids it conducted in certain police stations. The raid was conducted under the name ‘Operation Thunder’
The action was recommended for storing gold and ganja in police stations illegally.
The Vigilance director has asked for a detailed probe into the findings. The main instruction is to take action against Station house officers at Kozhikode town, Bekal and Adimali police stations, where irregularities were found.
Police had recovered ganja from police stations. 250 gram ganja in 29 covers, 12.7 gm gold and five mobile phones were found illegally kept inside the table of station SI at Bekal station.
11.52 gm gold, Rs 4223, 2 mobile phones and 11 unregistered petitions were found at Kozhikode Town Station. Deficit of Rs, 80,000 and Rs 57,740 were noted in Karunagappally station in Kollam and Kozhikkode Payyoli station respectively.
Search operation was carried out based on intelligence reports that there are irregularities in some cases and police have relations with quarry mafia.
