THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that the feeling of some people that the UDF would disintegrate is just their thinking. He was inaugurating the UDF blockade in front of Secretariat on Wednesday.

“Some people feel that UDF would fell apart because the Congress is not in power in the Centre or the State. The front will remove this thought from people’s mind and secure a big victory. If the CPM believes that they can weaken the Congress by allowing the BJP to grow, it is mistaken.

More than anyone else, it was Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who wanted to add fuel to the fire in the Sabarimala issue. In Sabarimala issue, the UDF’s stand was 100 % true. It is the responsibility of the Congress to ensure the protection of believers from various castes and religions. We have carried out that responsibility. This is the government that had trampled the beliefs of devotees,” he said.

Ramesh Chennithala criticised Pinarayi government for taking two women covertly to Sabarimala on the next day of women’s wall. He said the wound in devotees’ heart caused by the act would never heal and people would avenge this. “Nothing is happening in Kerala in the aftermath of flood. When ministers are leading a comfortable life, people are suffering. When coming to power, they said everything would be set right and what was set right was the CPM. The government has not been able to lay the foundation stone of any new project within 1000 days of coming to power. Youths are yet to get jobs. Cashewnut farmers and other agriculturists are in utter misery, Empaneled KSRTC workers are on strike path in front of the Secretariat.

Chennithala also criticised the CM for keeping 28 police vehicles for his security, Prime Minister Narendra Modi for telling lies and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for foul-mouthing others.

Soloman Alex chaired the protest meeting, Shashi Tharoor, Manjalamkuzhi Ali, V S Sivakumar, M Vincent, M M Hassan, N Shakthan, Thampanoor Ravi among others took part in the meeting.
