THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The expert panel submitted a report to the chief minister for a comprehensive change in the school education system. The report has recommended a change in the structure of LP, UP, High School and Higher Secondary.

The recommendation is to bring class one to 12th standard under a single directorate. Class one to seven will be under one stream and eighth to twelfth in second stream. A degree and B.Ed has been recommended for teachers from one to seventh and from eighth to twelfth post graduate degree and B.Ed are required.

A panel led by Dr M A Khader submitted the report to the chief minister. The government entrusted the expert panel as part of a quality education program in the context of the 2009 Right to Education Act. The panel has recommended to take steps against pre-school teaching centres which are not approved.
