THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There seems no change with the police’s attitude even after strict stand from the Chief Minister. They keep on worsening their bad image by storing unaccounted valuables at stations and by throwing away petitions and warrants. Such irregularities were found in 54 police stations where the vigilance conducted raid.

Hundreds of vehicles caught for various offences are kept at every police stations without proper documentation. Even cases regarding atrocities against women are not investigated. Criminals and mafias are walking freely at station circle with corrupt officers.

DGP B.S. Muhammed Yasin, who found that around 70 percentage of arrests are illegal, lead the ‘Operation Thunder’. Police now concentrate on compromising cases involving mafias. Officers make significant money through such deals.

The government keeps on repeating itself that corruption and inefficiency won’t be taken lightly. The Chief Minister also directed the police to take actions without any vested interests.

After the Pinarayi government came into power, around three dozen police officers were suspended for wrong doings. Over 20 sub inspectors were convicted in several cases. But there seems no end to foul play within the department.
