THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The department of education has decided to implement single directorate for controlling the school system from first standard to twelfth standard. Public education, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary directorates will be joined together and will for Directorate of School Education (DSE).

This will be implemented soon after the report is accepted by the government, minister Prof.C.Raveendra Nath told Kerala Kaumudi. Deputy Director, DEO and AEO offices will be joined and district-level education offices will be formed. Education officers will be appointed on the corporation-municipal-block-panchayat levels. Pareekshabhavans will also be joined as Board of School Examinations, Kerala.

Headmaster posts in schools will no longer be present. Instead, principal will be in charge of the whole divisions from 1st standard to 12th standard. There is also a recommendation for vice-principal post. The services of attender and clerk will be available for Higher Secondary department as well.

LP-UP-HS system will also be changed. Classes from first standard to seventh standard will be included in the primary category and 8,9,10 classes will be considered as secondary. However, the basic qualification for teacher has not been raised yet. This will be implemented in the coming ten years.
