THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A departmental inquiry has been ordered against DCP Chaithra Theresa John for conducting a raid at the CPM Thiruvananthapuram district committee office. The probe is following CPM complaint that the raid was conducted to insult the party. A departmental inquiry was ordered following the direction of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The probe will be led by IG Manoj Abraham. The report is likely to be submitted tomorrow.

The raid was conducted at the CPM office Thursday night by a team led by Chaithra. When it sparked a controversy, police chief Lokanath Behera ordered the commissioner to probe the incident. Chaithra was given the charge as R Adithya was on Sabarimala duty. Within hours after the raid, Chaithra was transferred from Law and Order to the Women's Cell.

Her raid at the CPM office had shocked the CPM. She reached the district office in Mettukada in search of DYFI activists who are accused in police station attack case. The inspection was based on the information obtained from the residences of the accused. The medical college police had yesterday afternoon taken into custody one of the accused. When the police reached the district committee office, there were only a few including the secretary. The team had inspected the office. District secretary Anavoor Nagappan had lodged a complaint to the DGP soon after the raid. The DGP had sought an explanation from her. She said the raid was conducted based on the information she got.
