THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Karnataka police revealed that Jesna Maria James, a college student from Mukkoottuthara near Erumeli, missing from March 22, 2018, is still alive and will return back home. The good news the state has been waiting for will reach soon. However, the Karnakata police has no intention to follow her. The Karnataka police informed this to the special investigating team of the crime branch probing the case. This was reported by a leading Malayalam daily.

Though whereabouts of Jesna has been obtained, the state police is of the decision not to go behind it. They decided to take into confidence the hint of the Karnataka police that she will return back soon.

Jesna was reported missing from March 22 on her way to her aunt’s house at Punchavayal, near Mundakkayam from her home. She reached the bus stop and boarded a bus to Erumeli. CCTV footages retrieved by the police show her getting down at Erumeli and boarding a bus to Mundakkayam on March 22. She had not taken her mobile phone and ornaments. Her father had lodged a complaint to the police that night at 7 pm and investigation was started.

The police had conducted a search for at many places in Kottayam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta and even in Malappuram, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. They had conducted a search in Goa and Pune following information that she is in some convents there. In the meantime, the police had recovered her mobile phone. The last message she sent was ‘I am going to die’ to her friend, a youth and native of Mundakayam. The police had taken this youth into custody on suspicion but on interrogation no information was obtained. This youth had called her umpteen times but there was nothing to be suspicious.

As the probe did not reach anywhere, the DGP had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to those giving any hint. The police tried to collect details after installing 12 information boxes in three districts. Though the box obtained more than 100 letters, no hints were obtained.
