THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a hint that the CPI may exchange the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency this time as a good candidate has not been found yet. The party has informed this to the CPM leadership. Most probably they are likely to demand the Pathanamthitta constituency. However, it is not clear how the CPM leadership would react to this. Meantime, the CPI has denied the news. The leaders claim that they will contest in the same four constituencies’ contested last time.

A tough competition would be witnessed in Thiruvananthapuram this time. It would be an embarrassment for the CPI if it fails to field an apt candidate. Some leaders reminded some events of last time. So, the party wants to replace Thiruvananthapuram with Pathanamthitta. However, some leaders hint that the seat will not be given and will field some top party leaders. As part of it, the names of CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, Panniyan Raveendran and Annie Raja are heard. In the coming Lok Sabha polls, chances are less for the CPI to get seat from other states except Kerala. In this situation, victory is inevitable for CPI in Kerala in order to maintain the recognition of national party.

K P Rajendran and P P Suneer may be fielded in Thrissur and Wayanad respectively.
