THODUPUZHA: Minister M M Mani harshly criticised DCP Chaithra Theresa John for the raid held at the CPM district committee office to nab the accused involved in pelting stones at medical college police station. There is no need for the police to barge into party offices.
Meantime, the report of ADGP Manoj Abraham against her was handed over to the chief minister today. It has been hinted that the report has not recommended action against the DCP. The chief minister will take a final decision. The chief minister had the other day criticised the action of Chaithra raiding the party office and said the government did not approve of any action intended to undermine the functioning of political parties. The ADGP has mentioned in the report that while raiding a party office, the DCP should have been a bit more careful.
Meantime, the report to the investigating official has mentioned that the raid was as per rules. The raid was based on trusted information. While collecting evidence from the mother of the main accused in the case, the phone calls she received mentioned that the accused were in the party office. The search report submitted in the court has also clarified this.
